Update 08.08.2024: As discussed in today's message meeting, this branch is not going to get merged to main. Therefore, I will close this PR.
@OFR-IIASA pointed out that this branch contains an attempt to introduce one-year-time-steps to the trade system to accurately capture the effect of Russia's invasion of Ukraine on trade. The attempt was aborted due to infeasibility, but something similar might be attempted again in the future. Thus, we will keep the branch around for future reference, but as part of our archive. If you want to write to or delete the branch, please reach out to the owners/admins of the iiasa organization.
