Setup
Due to Highwinds lightweight design, setup should only take a couple of minutes.
The first thing you might want to set up is your navigation. Highwind fully supports WordPress Menus and has a single menu location. Any menu you create and assign to this location will appear in the header and stay fixed in position as the user scrolls down the web page. WordPress Menus are managed in Appearance > Menus
.
Highwind offers 4 widgetised regions:
- The Sidebar
- Footer column 1
- Footer column 2
- Footer column 3
The sidebar you will probably be familiar with. The footer column widget regions are smart insomuch as that if you only add widgets to the first region, those widgets will be arranged full-width as a single column on the frontend. If you add widgets to both region 1 & 2 the widget regions will be arranged in to 2 equal width columns, side-by-side. If you add widgets to all 3 regions then they will be arranged into three equal width columns, side-by-side.

If you're familiar with the WordPress Customizer then configuring the theme options will be a piece of cake. Even if you're not familiar it will still be very straight forward. Make sure you're logged in as an administrator and then, via the admin bar on the frontend visit <Your Site Name> > Customise
. Here you will find all the theme options which allow you change colors, set background images and switch the layout.
The 'logo' in the header is actually a Gravatar. The email address used to generate this Gravatar is the site administrators. So make sure you have a Gravatar set up for that email address!
