Ultimately the name based implicit type conversion should to go away completely, or maybe get rid of our dependence on Sawyer altogether a la #57

For now I am getting unstuck by removing the implicit type conversion for non-strings.

@jbandhauer or @jonathanswenson might have something to say.

I'm fine with this. One little nit: you changed the behavior for float but didn't include float lines in your test cases. I'd say add those for completeness and merge.
