Design Proposal: Allow default font change

Motivation

I just spent two hours trying to change the default font from a single place in mapbox and gave up. Then I found this project and an issue where you propose just the thing I need... a global font fallback:

But it seems it's not planned, even though it received a wide support. So I would like to open a new issue for it.

Proposed Change

Any configuration option to supply a self-hosted custom font.

API Modifications

The proposed text-font-default property sounded great.
