Aspects Updates
###############

For the upcoming Teak and Ulmo releases, we plan to invest in a few areas to
support content modularity, flexible learner credentialing, and non-degree
credential pathways. We'll expand Individual Learner Dashboards to show learner
progress through content tagged with a particular competency. We'll surface data
in-platform to show how library content is performing across an instance. We'll
give users the ability to define groups of learners, so that they can view what
and how these learners are doing.

The Open edX Teak release comes out in June 2025.

Design Tokens (New Theming System)
##################################

In Teak, Design Tokens - a new way of comprehensive theming - will debut. This
theming system makes it much easier to theme your full site, including the Open
edX mobile applications.

See this presentation from the November 2024 Open edX meetup for more detail.

Content Libraries - Unit Support
################################

Phase 2 of the :doc:`Content Libraries project<../sumac/content_libraries_redesign_beta>`
will see the addition of Unit Support, that is, the ability to hold full
learning units within a Library. he ability to create and reuse units,
subsections, and sections will enable use cases such as having a library of
course sections that can be reused in other courses, offered as stand-alone
credits, and creating modularized content at scale.

Stay tuned for the Open edX Teak release, coming out in June, 2025.

Stay Up To Date with Teak
#########################

Beginning with the Redwood release, the community has come together to pre-plan
major product deliverables well in advance of the release's code cut off date.
This planning process is an open, synchronous meeting which anyone may join,
whether to discuss projects they're contributing or to follow along to get a
front row seat to the next release's deliverables. Coordination across community
projects in this way allows us to have more predictable feature sets available
in each release, facilitates assistance across the community for projects that
may be falling behind, and prevent duplicative work - which streamlines efforts
and reduces redundancy.

The Named Release Planning meeting occurs biweekly on Thursdays starting January
9th 2025, and can be found on the `Open edX Meeting Calendar
<https://calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0?cid=Y192ODZzaHJuZWdzaHNxZ3A0Zmoyazk0dTdiY0Bncm91cC5jYWxlbmRhci5nb29nbGUuY29t>`_.
Join asynchronously in the `#release-planning room in Slack <openedx.org/slack>`_.
