<Accordion title="How do I register for an exam?" id="" icon="wrench">

You can register for the Pantheon WebOps Certification Exam through our Certification Website. On the homepage of the site, there is a form for you to fill out. It will ask for your name, email address, organization (if applicable), and some technical information about the computer you will be using to take the exam. This is to help us ensure that your computer is technically compatible with our exam engine and proctoring service. You will then choose a date to take the exam. Once you submit this form, you will be redirected to a payment processor to complete your payment and secure your spot in our certification program.

@stevector suggest updating the answer here so that it links to the external Certification site (instead of existing copy which says "On the homepage of the site,"..)

@pantheonsteve is this info still accurate ^ ?

When you have finished taking the exam, you will see a message on the screen indicating whether you have passed or not. Once you have passed the exam, we will go through the process of validating the results. This validation can take up to 48 hours, at which point you will receive an email with a link to your badge and certification. We will also display your name, certification date, and a link to your badge and digital certificate on our Certification Registry site.

I created a separate PR #8855 to demonstrate how we might add this content to /certification without imposing it onto the study guide

@rachelwhitton do we have a breadcrumb-like element that would help someone get from this page back to all Certification info?

@stevector I'm not aware of any existing support for breadcrumbs since our conversion to Gatsby. There is a Gatsby plugin we can explore

Back in the Sculpin days we generated breadcrumbs in twig by parsing the URL #528

It was later removed in favor of simpler URLs #1442 (/articles/site/settings => /settings)

I suspect not having the basic nav element of breadcrumbs encouraged the misuse of our multi-page guide layout

@mel-miller what do you suggest?

@stevector I've been using a section at the bottom to crosslink related pages: https://docs.pantheon.io/object-cache#more-resources

@rachelwhitton I don't have any recent experience with breadcrumbs in Gatsby, but I would suggest starting with that Gatsby-specific plugin and see how it goes. I can definitely help style it if you get it working how you'd like.

We have a breadcrumb component in PDS, but it's really just the current one from product that was reskinned (as a temporary solution), I haven't done any testing in other contexts yet, so I can't really vouch for it. But you're welcome to take a look as well. https://live-pds-toolkit-react.appa.pantheon.site/?path=/docs/components-breadcrumbs--docs

I'm good with cross links at the bottom @rachelwhitton

@stevector can you review my recent commit here?

  • I consolidated the three separate exam pages into a single doc (instructions, topics, and FAQs)
  • I left the three separate links to each section of the exam doc page under the header "What to expect" on the landing page (with updated links to the consolidated exam doc page)
  • I added a "More Resources" section to each of the different resources in the /certification path (/certification/about, /certification/exam, and /certification/study-guide/custom-upstreams)

If it's preferred to keep them as 3 separate individual doc pages lmk and I'll revert

I'm not sure why build is now failing to deploy, here's what error log says in Front-End Site dashboard:

  TypeError: Cannot read properties of undefined (reading 'mode')

but i can't replicate that error locally

I'm not sure what's up, but the same code builds successfully over on the alt-exam-instructions branch.. @stevector to keep moving forward do we want to switch over to #8862 ?

Closing this PR in favor of #8862 since builds there are working reliably
