Supported Modules

  • rapidFIRE - full control (supports selecting rapidFIRE mode 1, 2 or legacy mode)
  • Steadyview - full control on Batch 2 goggles (supports selecting Mix 1, 2, 3 or Diversity mode)
  • Steadyview-X - full control (supports selecting Mix 1, 2, 3 or Diversity mode)
  • TBS Fusion - limited to switch mode (i.e. only can select 1 of 8 favourite channels)
  • Any module that allows selecting 1 of 8 channels with the buttons on other goggles

Hardware mods

The branch analog-module-control allows you to control the channel using the HDZero goggles in the same way as with digital i.e. using the jog dial to select the channel or even using the goggles ELRS backpack function.

For this to work, you need to solder 3 small wires to your module bay as follows...

Solder 3 enamelled copper wires (or other small gauge wire) to the 3 pins show on the connector that plugs into the HDZero goggles.

Then route the wires to the other side of the board being careful to leave space for the screw heads and keeping the wires away from where the module will press down on the board.

Solder the wires to the 9-pin module connecter in the positions shown. Feed the Pin 2 wire under the module connector and solder to the connector leg.

For the Steadyview (non-X model) Receiver you will also need gently pry up black plastic and desolder pin 8 (the circled one). Be very careful to pry the plastic up evenly from both ends so as not to bend or break any of connectors. Once you've desoldered the connection from pin 8, gently push the plastic housing back on.

This is necessary as this pin is connected to RSSI on the receiver and GND on the HDZero module bay. If this is left intact it will not do Diversity or mix modes properly.

Thats all thats needed for the hardware side of the things.

Firmware Mods

The firmware can be built yourself if you're ok with that or can be downloaded from github by visiting https://github.com/pkendall64/hdzero-goggle/actions?query=branch%3Aanalog-module-control and selecting the top entry and downloading the HDZERO_GOGGLE-xxxxxxx.bin and flashing to your goggles.

Once you have the firmware flashed there will be an extra entry on the main menu, Module Bay. This will allow you to select the type of module and any other settings supported by that specific module.

If you have a TBS Fusion or an older module that allows channel selection using the buttons on Fatshark goggles, that selecting Switch as the module type will allow that same behaviour and the channels will be labelled X1 thru X8.
