Creating a Collection in ProvLibDigital

A Collection is a repository item, which collection items or records will become members of. It is helpful to create an empty collection through the ProvLibDigital dashboard before ingesting any content.

Content > Add Content > Repository Item

  • ID - The collection number.

  • Resource Type - Select "Collection" from the drop down menu

  • Description

    • Most finding aids are published on Archives Space

    • Refer to the Scope and Contents and Biographical/Historical Note in the finding aid

    • Add a button linking to the finding aid:

  • Model - Select "Collection" from the drop down menu.

  • Published - Leave unchecked.

  • URL Alias - assign the custom URL for the collection

    • Uncheck "Generate automatic URL alias"

    • Enter /collection/[ID] under "URL alias."

Adding Content to a Collection

Records in the metadata spreasheet are associated with the collection on PLD through the collection's Node ID
