User Profile

Go to a user profile unauthenticated (Not logged in)

  • Go to /users
    • you should see a list of users
  • click on one of the users
    • you should go to their profile page
  • Click Highlighted tab
    • you may see a list of contributions if the user has chosen to highlight some of their work
  • Click User Info tab
    • you should see their PSU directory information
  • Click Activity tab
    • you should see a list of actions the user has taken in ScholarSphere (uploading, editing, ect.)
  • Click email address
    • you should get redirected to your mail client
    • NOTE: Clicking the email address should cause a pop-up to allow a user to select what application to use to send an email. However it does NOT work if any form of pop-up blocker is in use. For example: AdBlock Plus in both Chrome and Firefox would not allow it through.
  • Click Works Created to see deposited items
    • you should get directed to the public search screen (All of ScholarSphere) and see the files and collections the user has deposited

Authenticate (Log in)

  • Click "My Profile" In the drop down menu under your name
  • Click Highlighted tab
    • you should see any file you have highlighted
  • Click User Info tab
    • you should see you PSU information
  • Click Activity tab
    • you should see a list of the action you have taken in the system
  • Click email address
    • you should get redirected to your mail client

  • Click file numbers to see deposited items
    • you should get directed to the public search screen (All of ScholarSphere) and see the files and collections you have deposited
  • Click View Users
  • Click on a user id to view their profile
  • go back to your profile page by Clicking on "My Profile" In the drop down menu next to your name
  • click on the 'Edit your Profile' in the lower left corner
  • Click Edit Instructions button
  • Click Manage UMG button
  • Click ? icons to make sure displays come up.
  • Add Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn accounts
  • Click 'Save Profile'
    • Check profile display to see that changes were made
  • Click on the 'Edit your Profile' in the top right corner
  • Remove Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn accounts
  • Click 'Save Profile'
    • Check profile display to see that changes were made
  • Click on the 'Edit your Profile' in the top right corner
  • Authorize a Proxy in the bottom left portion of the page
    • Search for a PennState User under Authorize Proxy
    • You should see the user show up to the right.
    • Refresh the page and the user should still be there
    • View your profile and view the proxies tab to see your new user proxy
  • Check adding or removing Highlight Designation (check contribution display to make sure any removed are gone).
    • Go to your File listing by clicking on the user button with your name on it at the top of the page
    • Select View Files
    • find a file and under the action menu click highlight
    • go to your user profile by Clicking on "My Profile" In the drop down menu next to your name
    • the file should be showing on your profile
    • click the X button next to the file in your profile to remove it
  • Click on the profile tab
  • Check to make sure directory information is also showing any relevant profile information such as Facebook, LinkedIn, or Twitter.
  • Check links in directory info
  • Click on the 'Edit your Profile' in the top right corner
  • Update something in LDAP (on www.work.psu.edu)
  • Refreshing your directory information
    • Click on the 'Edit your Profile' in the top right corner
    • check the box next to 'Refresh directory info'
    • Click on 'Save Profile'
      • you should be redirected to your profile page
      • you should see your new information on the profile tab
