Describe the bug

Netlify fails to build a HTML book preview and complains about requiring R to serve/build the content even though the _freeze directory is present.

Steps to reproduce

Upload a quarto HTML book repo to netlify following instructions at https://quarto.org/docs/publishing/netlify.html#rendering-on-netlify.

Expected behavior

Netlify builds the preview.

Configuration

Command line options and/or configuration file, if any.

Additional information

Repo source: https://github.com/mlr-org/mlr3book/tree/mlr3spatial/book

Build dir: book/

Build log: https://app.netlify.com/sites/peaceful-hotteok-fed9fe/deploys/6321fc0098b5e520338fed1a

I took another look and stripped the project down but couldn't get another outcome.

I also saw https://github.com/quarto-dev/example-project-quarto-netlify-plugin and wondered if it actually runs (no Netlify runs are linked).

Having the same issue. I've only been able to publish via quarto publish netlify

As an FYI: I was having this issue because the _freeze folder was out of date. I ended up here so thought I'd share what I did to resolve as well 😊

If you're running into this issue, a suggestion is to:

  1. Rerender your quarto locally
  2. Commit any changes to your _freeze folder
  3. Push
