From github, either download the zipfile, or better if you use git, clone the directory on your machine. Store hytool in a place that will contain only hytool.
This directory must be different from your personal directories in which the data will be stored and where you will interpret them. Normally, one uses one directory per study in which data, and interpretations are stored. It is better to keep those “studies” completely independent from the hytool directory.
Then, launch matlab and configure it so that it knows where is the hytool directory. To do that, look for the Set Path dialog box, and Add the folder that contains hytool. No need to include the subfolders. Save the paths that you just defined.
To check that the configuration has been made properly, launch the interactive help (click on the ? in the menu), you should see the ****hytool Toolbox appearing in the Supplemental Software. You can then copy and adapt those examples to interpret your own data sets.
To start using hytool, the simplest is to open the hytool help within matlab. A Getting Started page explains the structure of the toolbox and provides examples with data.
