Useful extensions, tools, recipes and Playground experiments to help adopting Apple's Combine framework
unwrap(removed in favor of native implementation available usingcompactMap
)- materialize
- methodInvoked
- controlEvent(for:)
Turns type <T, E: Error> events into MaterilEvent. The returned Publisher never errors, and does complete after observing all of the events of the underlying Publisher.
URLSession.shared
.dataTaskPublisher(for: url)
.map { $0.data }
.decode(type: [MyModel].self, decoder: JSONDecoder())
.materialize()
Works on any NSObject subclass by swizzling the invoked selector and providing a way to hook into it using a publisher of type <[Any], Error>
.
The [Any]
array will contain any arguments that are passed in with the function (or it will be empty if none are passed).
let vc = UIViewController()
// Returns a AnyPublisher<[Any], Error> type that will emit and complete when viewDidLoad is called on the target view controller
let viewDidLoadPublisher = vc.methodInvoked(#selector(UIViewController.viewDidLoad))
let textField = UITextField()
let sink = textField.publisher(for: .valueChanged)
.print()
.sink { _ in }
textField.sendActions(for: .valueChanged)
Contributions are very welcome 🙌
