Learning Bash Scripting

This is the repository for the LinkedIn Learning course Learning Bash Scripting. The full course is available from LinkedIn Learning.

Learning Bash Scripting

Bash is a popular command line interpreter and the default option on Linux. In this course, Scott Simpson guides you through using Bash. Scott covers the history and significance of Bash, as well as the basics of using it. He explains how to create a script, make it executable, and run it. Scott steps through programming tasks, dives into Bash control structures, and highlights how to interact with the user. Plus, he shows you how to troubleshoot your scripts.

The best way to learn a language is to use it in practice. That’s why this course is integrated with GitHub Codespaces, an instant cloud developer environment that offers all the functionality of your favorite IDE without the need for any local machine setup. With GitHub Codespaces, you can get hands-on practice from any machine, at any time—all while using a tool that you’ll likely encounter in the workplace. Check out the Using GitHub Codespaces with this course video to learn how to get started.
