Milestone in the school-defined project cadence:

An important part of your project development will be iterative development of your project. This means that you will build several versions of your project and refine those versions to get to your final project. Versions of your project are valuable to your project development because it demonstrates your progress and learnings. A technology prototype is one of these versions that demonstrates the core part of the technology of your project works.

This is a very important milestone that needs to be completed before you create your final requirements document. This is not your final project, it is a way to demonstrate that you are well along your learning and development journey. Do not worry that there are errors or that there is minimal functionality in your prototype – it is a learning tool. Your prototype may or may not turn into your final project.
