Become a sponsor to kluctl
Hello π
Thanks for checking out the sponsors page of the @kluctl organisation π
π΄οΈThe @kluctl organisation
This organisation is the home of multiple Kubernetes related tools, most importantly the Kluctl project itself. By sponsoring this organisation, you will actually sponsor me (@codablock), as I'm the maintainer of all projects inside this organisation.
πΈ Why should you consider sponsoring me?
I'm trying to put as much time as possible into Kluctl. I'll keep doing this no matter if I'm getting sponsored or not. However, having an income stream that is independent from my daily business (I own a small consultancy company) makes this a lot easier.
At the same time, let's be honest, it's an extremely rewarding feeling when getting sponsored, boosting motivation a lot π
π³ What are you using the money for?
Mostly, to reduce the amount of "other work" I need to perform to keep myself over the water. At the same time, I'm spending a lot of the money on freelancers that are able to compensate the skills that I lack. This is mostly in the field of graphics, web design and web development (e.g. the Website and the Webui).
I'm also spending it on travel expenses, stuff that I need for conferences (roll-up banners, hardware, stickers, other swag, ...).
I'm doing all this anyway already, but if you sponsor me it gets easier for me to do more.
π Why not make a business out of it, like everyone else does?
So far I have not seen a valid business model that works long-term when it comes to such low-level and critical tooling as I consider Kluctl to be. Some have tried it in the last few years, but I can't see how they are or how they will become successful and profitable. Just look at the multiple examples of Open Source companies becoming broke or even worse: Rogue to its own community.
The failures I have seen in the last few months have led me to realise and accept that Kluctl should at all cost stay a true Open Source project without any business related incentives compromising the project. If this means the project stays small (staff wise, not adoption wise) forever, then this is what it is and I'm perfectly fine with that.
