Automatic Mode
The Automatic Mode will overwrite your standard ways of opening new tabs - even when opened from an external program. Instead of opening tabs in No Container, it will open them in a freshly created Temporary Container. No more cookie, cache and storage collecting in one place, everything happens in its own isolated Temporary Container.
Automatically reopens Tabs in new Temporary Containers when
- Opening a new Tab
- A Tab tries to load a Link in the Default Container
- An external Program opens a Link in the Browser
In combination with Multi-Account Containers
- Reopens Confirm Page if in Default Container so you can choose between Temporary Container and Permanent Container
Note:
- If you experience a huge delay when new tabs are reopened, maybe even losing typed characters in the address bar, you can change the Automatic Mode configuration in the Advanced section to
Don't reopen [..] but instead on navigation
. - If you have configured "New Tab" to "Blank Page" in Firefox, then instant reopening of tabs doesn't work due to missing Firefox APIs. In this case the reopening happens on the first navigation in the new tab.
You can use the official Multi-Account Containers Add-on from Mozilla to keep data (like cookies) from some websites in permanent containers and with that stay logged in. Then you can easily leave "Automatic Mode" enabled, which is preferable from a privacy-perspective. - Install Multi-Account Containers
- Click on the new toolbar icon and through the initial welcome-cards
- Now you see a list of predefined permanent containers: Personal, Work, Banking, Shopping
- Click on one of the permanent containers to open a new tab in it
- Navigate to the website where you always want to stay logged in
- Click the toolbar icon again and tick the "Always open in" checkbox
- Now every time you navigate to that website it'll open in the permanent container
