v2.0.0

I have reluctantly forked this project, as I no longer have access to maintain the original repo, and this has allowed me to make many overdue fixes and updates, adding support for new versions of Python, through 3.11, and more respectable versions of PyTest, now covering 8.0.X.

I am calling this 2.0.0, as it represents many breaking changes compared to the original (which was not semantically versioned, but would probably be 1.0.something, if it was...)

(If you have access, I would be happy to see these updates applied to the original, more frequently github-starred version!)
