What is this code abomination?

PlayEm is a great example on how NOT TO design software - in so many levels. It started out as a project that was meant to get my thoughts off the freshly divorced marriage. At the early times I was far too stoned to actually get good code written but I was distracted with my lil' toy. Over time the code did not get much better - just more of it. The project itself never took off with any users. Far too niche and old school, I guess. That in turn meant there never was a good reason to write better code but only to have some fun doing so. PlayEm is a hobby project, in no way professionally engineered software. This project has no clear direction nor purpose. Just some fun tinkering.
