Slide review process
If you're interested in participating in the pre-recording review process for videos posted to my Youtube Channel, you can join the williamfiset-youtube mailing list for updates.
My videos are recorded from an Apple Keynote slide deck (you can find all my previous video slide decks here). Keynote allows realtime collaboration between multiple users using either the Keynote software on an Apple computer (typically preferred) or via the browser on icloud.com via Keynote on the cloud for other operating systems.
Whenever I have new video material I will send an email to the williamfiset-youtube mailing group asking for volunteers to take a look at the new content. In the email, I will include a link to the Keynote slide deck with collaboration enabled. After ~1 week I will disable collaboration mode and make the slide deck view only to prevent the review process from going on indefinitely. From there, I will adjust the slide deck content based on all the feedback and record the video later that week. The overall process looks something like this:
- You receive an email about new video content from the mailing list.
- Follow the keynote link shared in the email (you will need an Apple Id for this)
- Provide feedback by adding comments and making minor edits.
- After ~1 week collaboration mode is disabled and the review period is over.
- I incorporate all the feedback and produce a video.
- Point out incorrect information or inaccurate animations in the slides.
- Grammar/spelling/punctuation mistakes.
- Places where extra emphasis (bold/italics/etc..) can be added (or removed for that matter).
- Areas that require extra clarity.
- Incorrect/unclear/buggy pseudocode.
Here are some general guidelines on how to give feedback:
- The preferred way to give feedback is by adding note comment or a text/object comment in Keynote.
- If the edit is small (e.g spelling, punctuation, minor animation fault, etc...) and you're certain it is correct then feel free to directly edit the slides.
- Do not remove slides, please add a comment instead. Adding slides is ok, but make sure to make it is obvious that it was added (e.g by adding a comment note).
In general, use your best judgment on how to give feedback/edit slides. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to me or email the google mailing group.
