I also cherry-picked 2bb0ee6 to fix the pypy3 doctest issue.
One additional reason for this PR was to pull in the configuration change from zopefoundation/meta@8d837c8 so I can be sure the macOS arm64 wheels are tested instead of the x86_64 wheels. I'm trying to rule out issues for the macOS test failures on zopefoundation/Zope#1214
