This release hopefully addresses the flute not working on the ghost ship.

Oricon can be found as a treasure to be sold for some additional gold. It is also a monster drop.

Also, more key items are able to be sold to free up inventory space. I don't think there will be any bugs with selling items other than the potential to soft lock progression in the seed. Use with care. New key items that can be sold are: Wake-Up Powder, Royal Scroll, Locket of Love, Sailors Thigh Bone, and Mirror of Ra.

This release fixes the Echoing Flute not working in Jipang and Cave of Jipang. If the orb is found in either the cave or the village, it will chime in both locations.

Hello everyone! I'm excited to release version 2.4.5 of the randomizer. Below is a list of the changes and updates in this version.

Core

  • Addition of options for manual entry of flags and auto population of SotW, and Endy flags (this does not impact cosmetic or party checkboxes)
  • Creation of Hash to help verify seeds since checksum changes if cosmetic changes are made
  • Addition of mountains around Dragon Queen Castle
  • Reshaping of Isis to original map shape (it does blend in with forests, so keep that in mind)
  • Enable Dream Ruby (sellable item for between 750 and 7500 gold if selling key items flag is selected)
  • Sphere of Light can be found with the Dragon Queen - No orb will be found here (be sure to check before defeating Baramos if you're going to utilize the no battle glitch)

Flags

  • Flag to remove mountains around Dragon Queen's Castle
  • Flag to remove New Town from world map
  • Flag to add default treasure location for the Green and Silver Orbs
  • Invisible Ships and Bird Flag
  • Invisible NPCs flag (equipping Animal Suits will make you invisible)
  • Flag to split out the randomization of equipment prices based on equipment power
  • Flag to remove redundant keys (i.e. if the Magic Key is found in the Thief's Key area, the Thief's Key won't be generated)
  • Flag to allow non-required key items to be sold
  • Flag to randomize starting gold

Cosmetic Flags

  • Change the sprite of dead party members from ghosts to coffins
  • Sprite of hero will change based on the age of the hero (12-22 will use the default hero sprite)
  • Option to change cats into other animals

Yes, horrible day to release a new version, but this is no April Fool's joke. Version 2.4.4 is here. Below is a list of the changes made in this version.

Enhancements

  • Removal of orbs from treasure pool when "No Orbs for Lamia" flag is selected
  • Fixes to Portoga (will always be an island, return locations fixed)
  • Flag to remove mountains around Lancel cave
  • Flag to remove mountains around Baramos' Castle
  • Flag to remove water around Charlock Castle (removes requirement for Rainbow Drop)
  • Flag to remove mountains around Cave of Necrogrond
  • Old man in Reeve added to locations where Magic Ball can be found (still a randomized location)
  • Creation of grass track around mountains of Charlock castle (should remove the chance that mountains block the castle)
  • Update to readme.md file
  • Addition of tool tips within randomizer application
  • Changes to flags generation - Removal of lower case, numbers, and special characters, on capital letters
  • Rework of version number and date within code (version number added to the generated randomized ROM)
  • Option to toggle islands.txt, monsters.txt, and zones.txt files

Cosmetic

  • Typos address when using "Show Equipment Power" flag is selected
  • Lower Case cosmetic flag is enabled again (issue with item menu has been fixed and unchanged text updated)
  • Addition of cosmetic flag for Hero's age (ryguy3745 suggestion)
  • Rework of selection code and addition of names for male and female party embers
  • Cosmetic flag to randomize the colors of overworld character sprites
  • Adjustments to credits screen in game

Here is the latest update. I'm planning on doing weekly updates.

Changes in this release include:

  • Changing land around Lancel to grass
  • Disabled lower case text option due to unexpected effects in battle
  • Removed Muor and Baharata from the Orbs and Key Items locations due to duplicating items
  • Removed Compare button and added checkbox for this option (if generating Compare file, the randomization will advance to combat the chance of cheating used for racing purposes)
  • Guide, Compare, and Debug files now include seed and flags in file name
  • Broke apart main randomize function into smaller functions for easier code maintenance
  • Randomization workflow changed. Adding options will not completely change generated map, items, etc (i.e. Caturday flag will put Animal Suit in 1 shop, but will not change other properties)
  • Misc. typo fixes

Updates will start slowing down since the randomizer will be used more widespread. I will need to come up with a cadence for updates.

Updates in this version:

  • Addition of Cosmetic tab
  • Addition of cosmetic option to put menus into lower case (not all in caps)
  • Moved Fix Slime Snail to Cosmetic tab and removed flag calculation for this option, as it doesn't impact gameplay
  • Updated lastfile.txt to include cosmetic options
  • Changed some of the default flags
  • Moved Sword of Gaia to a required treasure item due to the potential of the shrine not being generated on the map
  • Adjust some of the randomization calculations so non-impactful randomization does not impact overall randomization (like random character names)
  • Added gameboyf9's RNG changes as a flag that can be turned on and off.

  • Add flag to display equipment power in item list. Weapon and armor names are truncated to accommodate this. Equipment name on top line, equipment power on second line

  • Remove Penalty When Fighter Equips Certain Equipment (This was a default randomizer behavior. This can now be toggled).
