Continuum radiation

The module on continuum emission so far only supports black body radiation.

Warning

When trying to fit continuum radiation you must use intensity/sensitivity calibration to obtain remotley accurate results.

cont

The menu allows you to select a starting temperature. Pressing "Show" will display the corresponding radiation. Median and minimum filters may help remove line emission from the spectrum prior to fitting. Pressing "Show" with enabled filters will also show the filtered spectrum. The option "Fit vertical offset" can be useful if the background subtraction does not produce the correct baseline. However, the option should be used with care, since the vertical offset can be of physical importance, especially when fitting small parts of the continuum spectrum.

After the correct setting have been chosen, pressing "Fit" will perform the fit.

By default, all spectra shown in the graph view are fitted, allowing multiple spectra to be analyzed at once. This behavior can be changed to instead fit the spectra of all files selected by a checkmark in the file list (dropdown menu "Fit all displayed" -> "Fit all selected").

The right-click context menu of entries in the results table at the bottom of the module tab allows to plot them in the graph view or remove them.

The complete table can be exported using the "Save data" button or the File -> Export menu in the menu bar at the top of the window.
