Device Placement

Before placing the device, ensure that you have properly configured the device following the instructions in setup the device following the instructions in Software Setup and Hardware Setup.

The device should be placed directly between the authenticator and the supplicant, as shown in the diagram below:

The interface that is connected to the authenticator becomes the upstream interface. The interface that is connected to the supplicant becomes the PHY interface.

Important - If you use Device Configuration B, the rogue device will intentionally degrade any Gigabit ethernet connections to 100 MB/s to facilitate the use of the passive tap. Keep this in mind when deciding where to place your device, since causing a major bottleneck in the target network will get you burned.
