Virtual Hackathon III: May 26-28 2021
The focus of this hackathon will be on infrastructure issues, rather than adding new features to SasView per se, in particular trying to finish moving completely to github actions and away from jenkins (and even travis CI), but also addressing things like the marketplace, mailing list archives, and other such non feature activities. The thinking is that these important issues often get pushed aside in order to keep pushing out new features and bug fixes that will have an immediate impact for the community. But doing so comes at a long term price.
For those he would like to participate but don’t feel they can contribute to infrastructure issues, rest assured that all contributions will be welcome.
- We will use Kanban board https://github.com/orgs/SasView/projects/6
- SasView/Hackathon managers will group/prioritize tasks and add labels if necessary (for easier filtering).
- The communication will be done through SasView slack channel (code camp channel)
- There will be no daily meeting
- We will aim at closing as many pull requests as possible and therefore considerable fraction of the day should be spent on reviews. Hackathon managers may assign some reviewers
- For coding tasks we very much encourage writing unit tests as well as completing QA check list (https://github.com/SasView/sasview/wiki/DevNotes_DevGuide_CodeTesting (draft) and https://github.com/SasView/documents/blob/master/Development/Testing/SasView_5_GUI_QA.pdf)
